Dr. Binayak Sen
Dr. Binayak Sen spoke about the enormously debilitating impact of hunger and continuous poverty on generations of Indians; about a society where equity and justice is not accessible to everyone, and the shortage of water, nourishment and education in villages and slums is unchecked. He said "to eradicate these social issues one has to go to the grass roots and work in unity."

With a heart of gold she was born
An angel that descended into our arms
Embers kindled deep within her soul
She was developing a strong mind of her own
She blossomed into the gentlest bloom
She grew along to the softest tunes
She was tall and strong but timid and shy
Yet she knew she had the wings to fly
She found her calling and she dove right in
She discovered for what her life was meant
A spark was all she ever needed
Her goal had never been so clear in her head
She fought for friends and strangers alike
She listened and shared their painful plight
She ignited a passion in them to fight
For justice, equality and human rights
She led by example at home and at work
She was the brightest ever guiding force
She pushed herself beyond her might
She would never ever give up the fight
She inspired every one of us
To do not what we like, but what we must
That fire now runs through our veins
It is time for us to take the reigns
To take her work and make it our own
For she bled not for herself but for everyone
